LUMEN Inaugration

The hybrid Inaugration was scheduled from 10:30 A.M at Avoli Gramapanchayath Office Hall on 24th July 2022. The dice witnessed a potent panel of representatives from the IEEE Kerala Section and Avoli Local Self Government. The LUMEN Street Light Project was officially inaugurated by Dr Mini Ulnath (Chair, IEEE Kerala Section) with Shri. Ullas Thomas (District Panchayath President). After felicitation from Prof. Muhammed Kasim, Prof. MV Rajesh, the Ward Members and the representatives from the Panchayath, Soumya Francis (Ward No.5 Member, Avoli Gramapanchayath) and Er. Abhinav Rajeev (Project Lead, LUMEN) shared their heartfelt acknowledgement to the team and the residents of Mangalath Colony for their service and support for LUMEN.

LUMEN Core Meeting

IEEE EPICS LUMEN had its final Pre-Project Core Meeting tonight. We are indeed going to have a great time ahead in completing the project. Thanks to the Section Leaders for their valuable suggestions and support in scheduling LUMEN at its best. #SpreadtheLight!

Battery Pack Modelling Workshop

It is with immense delight to inform that LUMEN has completed its Fifth Workshop on 17th July 2022. The workshop was organised by the Student/YP Volunteers from IEEE Kerala Section, IEEE Kerala YP with IEEE SIGHT Kerala IEEE EdSoc Kerala Chapter. With 40 participants from the northern and southern tip of the Kerala Section, the First South Indian Offline Hands-on Lithium Battery Pack Modelling workshop, under IEEE was certainly a presentation of the enthusiasm of the students for the IEEE EPICS LUMEN. Thanks to Bindima, Chair IEEE Kerala Section SIGHT and Prof. Vinod T, Professor at CEP for your esteemed presence during the physical workshop.

The workshops consisted of 3 tracks, which covered the technical aspects of LUMEN. In depth discussions was held on Lithium Battery Technology, Electrical & Control Engineering of the Controller. The LUMEN Project core team covered the product engineering of the components for the project along with its detailed demonstration. The workshop was also accompanied by hands-on bus bar designing with power tools by the delegates with an exhibition of each and every component to be used in the final project implementation.

LUMEN has completed the prelims for the registered contestants for the selection to the workshops. The 30min proctored questionnaire was set on HackerEarth Platform with 45 Practical-oriented questions in MCQs and short answer types. A compatibility test was provided a day before to ensure the network stability and system requirements of the delegates.

Under all the requirements, the first phase of LUMEN witnessed 108 participants from 18 Engineering colleges in Kerala. Out of these diversified students of the Kerala Section, 40 eligible students qualified for the test will be selected for the offline workshop of LUMEN.

LUMEN had the official inauguration on 26th of June at 7.30 PM IST. The occasion witnessed the presence of Senior Professional members of the Kerala Section, including members from Education Society Kerala Chapter, and SIGHT Kerala Section. Dr. Mini Ulanat, Chair of IEEE Kerala Section and Er. Muhammed Kasim, the Vice Chair of the Section inaugurated the EPICS Project and launched the logo and website of LUMEN. With that, the project unleashed and is now open to to you all for registration!

The project grounds the collaboration of the IEEE Kerala Young Professionals, IEEE SIGHT KS, and IEEE Education Society Kerala Chapter! The students will be trained on 2 software and a thorough practical hands-on project implementation which will really equip them with the technical knowledge to upskill themselves in their careers.
